We would use smoothies for our son. Strawberry smoothie worked well. He had lots of ear infections (almost 1 a month for like a year) before we went the surgery route and got tubes in his ears.

Like pretty much everything else that you want them to do and they won't do, you've got to turn it into a game. We went through this with our kid. Wouldn't take anything. We've been through the hiding the medicine in various different foods, etec etc. The best thing was getting someone else to take a fake medicine at the sane time (in our case it was his sister with milk that essentially looked exactly the same as the real medicine) and her going first and clapping her after she's done it. Doing a reverse psychology game - it's really important that you don't take this, but I need you to look after it. You either hold it and turn your head away or give it to her to do it herself. Giving her the responsibility usually works too. Say something like I bet you don't know how to do it. And she'll want to prove she can. Bribing with sweets is another tactic. It's easier but worse for her and the other two work better. Good luck man. We went through years of this! You get there in the end, though.

We don’t have kids yet but we ended up with a similar solution for our dog to take medicine.
