“Poverty shouldn’t exist” or “unemployment shouldn’t exist” is much better rhetoric than “billionaires shouldn’t exist.” It’s positively framed instead of antagonizing. And that’s exactly why nobody ever says those things.

Some try, but it's not working! "End extreme poverty by 2030" is the number one stated goal of the aid industrial complex. Unfortunately it's muddled alongside 16 others.

the same people say both all the time, but only one provokes people while the other is easily ignored

Billionaires shouldn’t exist is feeding the populism vote. It’s all about mobilising the people and billionaires are looked upon as a facilitators of “bad things”. It’s all about perception and Mamdani is playing it really well.

Is just populist rhetoric Mamdani did a good job in interviews following these statements with a MLK quote When I say billionaires shouldn't exisist as a Marxist, i dont mean billionaires should be killed or any nonsense, i mean that no individual should be able to hoard wealth to such a magnitude that it impacts the working class

Think both approaches have issues. "Billionaires shouldn't exist" is thrilling to people already sold on socialism/communism but alienating to everyone else. "poverty shouldn't exist" sounds nice but is so generalized that it means little. IMO. "Freeze the rent" and "Free Busses" were much more effective because they're tangible. But we're now in the general and he is going to need to walk the line of firing up his base + winning people deeply critical of socialism and his proposals. Right now he seems to be mostly focused on firing up his base (which is the easier thing to do).

The crux of our times is that attention is driven by outliers. In essensce, the attention economy has a consistent pull toward madness.

We had a tag line for all of our fundraising efforts we did on Worldwide Unified "No Poor Among Us" because it's absolutely possible. IMO onchain tech is going to really help in this grand cause to help end poverty.
