The day when I started recycle and thought about ecology. 2019. In my country, there is no waste sorting system — it is carried out by small grassroots movements organized by ordinary citizens in major cities.

What an upside down world in which the very people who want to enable future generations to still enjoy life on earth are being imprisoned.

Yeah, it's terrible.  And the problem is not that people are bad, we just don't have this opportunity in our country and people are not educated in terms of ecology.  In Saratov, the eco-movement, in which I was a volunteer, organizes actions to collect recyclable materials once a month.  Imagine that people save garbage for a month, plastic has to be sorted into 7 categories, washed and labels cut off. Some labels have to be heated with a hair dryer to remove. Otherwise this recyclable material will not be accepted by businessmen, who do not pay a penny for this, but only give us the opportunity to squeeze plastic :( already percent of 10 residents of Saratov sort the garbage - it's amazing, despite the difficulties. By the way, active eco-activists are imprisoned because they are dangerous for the state - they have influence on people

Proud of you! I can’t imagine there not being a waste sorting system. I go to great lengths to take all my “special” waste to a specific facility, but even then I always feel so bad dropping it off, knowing the impact it has on our earth. I just feel powerless as a consumer often not knowing how the products I order are being packaged. I despise styrofoam and thin plastic wrap ~ and wouldn’t order items that are packaged using it if I’d k ow better. It would
be great if there would be labels on the product page that would
indicate packaging type.
