Every year I’ve lived in Los Angeles, I’ve heard fireworks the entire week leading up to July 4, and several days after. This year was eerily silent until last night. My guess is it’s because the people who light most of the fireworks are immigrant families. 🙁

Reasonable theory There were still plenty of fireworks in Echo Park in the lead up. They are nearly a year round thing here 😆 Not really many today though, yet. So I’m grateful for that

It was insane last night. Might’ve been the most intense I’ve ever experienced in 12 years.

i thought the ending would be that since LA almost burnt down a few months ago maybe LA residents would’ve grown some consciousness on the perils of fireworks but your reason sadly seems more realistic

It’s super sad, a lot of protest instead of celebrations

Also most fireworks are imported from China, so they were probably more expensive this year due to tariffs.

Focus group: faith in institutions is dangerously low Trump & the anti-immigrant people: what if we alienate one of the last patriotic groups left who still wave American flags? 🤔
