For all those saying that "coding" isn't a valuable skill anymore. https://x.com/ID_AA_Carmack/status/1762110222321975442

"How the hell do I solve the problem you've just described in a way that you're able to use and maintain?" That's the skill. Always has been.

For architecture they always fed us the line that a good architect isn’t solving a problem — anyone can do that. The more valuable skill is being able to identify the problem. The solution a client expects does not always align with the problem a client has. It’s kind of a first principles approach. I think developers, engineers, programmers w/e have the same capacity for lateral thinking and use their tools in a similar way. I do think that skill will always be valuable.

Reads kinda true. I'd also say knowing how "systems" work or should work is a skill in itself.

This is exactly what I’ve been realizing for a while, amazing way to put it into words. Problem solving is the core that even devs got paid for, that hasn’t gone away, the coding wall just got taken down and commodified intensely.
