Should Farcaster add a "staking" verification system?  Please reply! 

Users can get "verified" badge by staking $10 USDC in a contract. The stake can be reclaimed at any time, but will only release after a delay (maybe 4-8 weeks). 

Verified users will get the following benefits: 

- Badge on profile. 
- Access to video uploads.
- Show up higher in conversations. 
- A small boost in the rewards program. 

The goal is to make it harder for spammers to verify so that good humans on Farcaster have a better experience!

I can’t get the whole thread to load so apologies if you’ve already seen this and commented but I assume you both have thoughts about this issue since you’ve looked at spam and pro account correlations deeply and have expertise to chime in here.

If I have to stake $10 to post videos I say go for it, but don't think $10 will stop spammers. They seem willing to pay these amounts or even a pro subscription to appear more legitimate.

The problem is that the willingness of spammers is greater than that of the average user. Staking $10 to appear more legit will make them think it's a good deal (imo).

They really are willing to jump through so many hoops. I can’t imagine putting in all this effort.
