The answer is: Tipping is overdone and annoying. I don’t give a friend $1 when they say something I like. Or If I want to repeat what they said to my friends. Tipping was a great ‘24 fad, we tried it, we had fun, and it’s time to move on. … Unless one of the founders of the several tipping products can prove to me that tipping is really important. I’m open to discussion.

You’re thinking about tipping within the wrong context Yeah, of course it would be weird to give your friend a dollar every time they said something you liked. But that’s not what’s happening here These are basically micro transactions that get paid out every time you naturally interact with someone through liking, recasting, or whatever Think of it as you’re basically paying a small amount directly to a creator for content that you consume and like On most social media apps, that sort of payment happens implicitly because you’re paying attention to content which lets the creator monetize through ads and other methods. This is just making That payment more explicit

you can choose not to tip others. I think it’s fair to speak for yourself but there is solid evidence that “we” love tipping here and it isn’t “time to move on”

Tipping is one form factor of micro payments. It just opens the door to other micro transaction use cases I’m bullish on @noiceapp after meeting the founders today.
