help me with a riddle. I spent 90 minutes this evening with @nicholas recording a podcast — one of the most substantive and thoughtful deep dives into moxie and farcaster. We could have gone on for hours if I didn’t lose my voice. He has 300k followers here and he’s a genuine. So smart. Tell me: How come there’s so little engagement on his recent casts?

Never heard of him but I scanned his casts and they’re mostly one-liners. Not the sort of thing to get much engagement IMHO.

Honestly my guess would be he was originally on the auto follow list and a lot of those followers are ghosts now. The organic far score changes seem to partially confirm that as well. He took an 81% hit to his organic far scores. He has a lot of followers but they’re not the new, active users.

Let's just say the things he casts about doesn't call for engagement at all And I don't think he needs it or even engages other people much He resonates only around his field Understandable

It’s a mystery for me too 🤔 I saw I follow Nicholas but I don't recall seeing his posts in my feed. It’s not just him either.. many accounts with huge follower counts seem to have a low engagement ratio here yet those same people with fewer followers on X get more interaction. It could be that his content is too technical or only relevant to a specific group (like Dev) additionally, I think even with a large number of followers, the content might not always get surfaced in notifications or feeds

well the auto-follow bots (the 300k followers) aren't really that engaging 😭 real people usually does better. Not Nicholas fault btw, many such cases, they should prune those fake followers tbh its kinda silly.

Maybe the algorithm doesn't bring the content to his followers regularly. Checking out the views as related to engagement would be a good yardstick There's no way to get 1k engagements when barely over 200 people see the post on their feed
