I always felt like web3 is the industry with the highest density of generalists — not just within domains, but across industries

So this book will probably resonate with a lot of you

Except by talks from Virgil Abloh.

Great book. Definitely resonated with me.

I saw it first in Bill Gates' reading list (the Gates Notes), it has some good recommendations

Usually not a fan of pop non-fiction, but I really liked this book!

But this one is 100% worth the read

is it worth the whole read? I feel like a lot of pop-sci books would be better digested in a more concise form

Because money represents the conceptualisation of the material world, reducing it to interoperable, computable units. But money is also what you need to pay rent and buy food.

Most people cannot get past the transactional & emotional role of money.

The interdependence of technology and currency in web3 demands that you are able to deal with the conceptual and concrete aspects of both — at the same time.

On a practical level, you need a basic understanding of finance, economics, technology and sociology... or you just won't get it.

That is unfortunately true (although maybe not for management / execs)

But that's the eternal dichotomy between entrepreneurs and employees

companies unfortunately seldom hire for generalists though.

Was recommended this recently too, haven't started yet. 

Realising though slowly, being a generalist is of great value. Many a times, you're able to see the bigger picture quicker than others.
