i walked almost 20 miles in manhattan yesterday & i must say, the city feels homogeneously bad the ENTIRE city felt like a penn state frat party; like there were girls picnicking in tompkins sq in dior & st. marks looked like newport i’m so sorry nyc; i promise not all of us are like this 😭😭

also why does everyone in brooklyn cosplay as working class people these days 😭 you went to nyu, fully paid by daddy & bartend at a cocktail bar that serves $19 vodka sodas 😭

I've never felt the class disparity as bad I did this recent trip The city has separated into: 1) trust-fund bourgeoisie larps 2) run-down service class that puts up with 1's bullshit Felt it most acutely taking the L into manhattan on Friday evening and taking the L out to queens on Sunday morning. Same train, very different people

i’ve lived in & out of manhattan for almost a decade now & have never seen it THIS bad it was truly gross; i had a visceral reaction walking down the west side & thought it would be better coming up the east… my lord… it used to be contained

It’s dreadful and feels increasingly difficult for those of us whose whole families are here and thus can’t leave (i have a baby now and my parents and in laws are getting older, so I can’t abandon them). Luckily we live far out in southern brooklyn where it’s still too distant from manhattan and filled with less-posh ethnic groups to attract the people you’re seeing elsewhere.

it's almost as if normalizing the regular broadcast of one's daily life had some undesireable effects
