Ultra-processed food as a percentage of household purchases by EU country. @keccers.eth this is why I said northern EU countries (especially UK) cannot be taken as an example for EU food quality. (Malta is strongly influenced by UK colonisation)

I know that Italy has very strict laws in what's legal to sell and this surely is a good barrier to avoid certain products. Tho for overweight, there are many unhealthy way of living that we are embracing everywhere, which is not just related to ultra processed food
