People say Juneteenth is some woke holiday but imo it's a better symbol of freedom than July 4th.
July 4th celebrates the American heroes who sacrificed their lives fighting for our freedoms.. just for a bunch of grimy old trouts to legislate them away over the next 250 years.
Juneteenth celebrates the last 250k slaves being freed once the Union took control of Texas. 1863-1913 USA is arguably the freest nation to ever exist.
Juneteenth is the epitome of freedom, and it actually still means something. July 4th represents a close-but-not-quite attempt at decentralized governance, sacrifices made in vain, the derailed pursuit of liberty and an empire in decline. A fumbled bag. Study complacency. Study endowment effect.
