I’ve been trying to get onboard w hockey for a few years now. Hasn’t really clicked, I just have many issues Pros: - more fluid than football⚽️ takes their whole ethos to the extreme - injuries/ACL/hamstring rng seems a bit less relevant - the 3 period thing is cool. Just like in football where the 2 halves you get different teams and strategy changes, it feels like 3 distinct mini-games. Very cool and unique Cons: - suffers from the same subliminal foreignness helmet problem as American football 🏈 - not enough room for individual brilliance - hard to follow the puck it is small - the buzzer thing is a bit… odd. In football you have stoppage time, you honor the fact that the tempo of the game is possession based. In hockey you win over football in fluidity and you throw it away but adhering to the dumbass arbitrary OMG DID THE PUCK CROSS THE GOAL BEFORE THE BUZZER?! retardio - in football you can feel the momentum shift. A team enters the final third, or keeps re entering… is asking questions… a goal is coming. In hockey you look away for 1 second there’s a goal idk feels kind of flukey. 1-on1s are not a shoo in and teams may not be rewarded for dominating… yet the best team usually seems to win so I also don’t know what I’m talking about But the pros outweigh the cons. Not gonna be anal and just embrace it for what it is. It’s got the blue collar vibe to it, feels less globalized than the rest/has the premier league community vibe where the team is an extension of its locality like green st hooligans, way more than other American sports
