Pebble is back, and they're making some really cool devices. They've fully embraced open source, the devices go weeks without needing a charge, and I'm officially a big fan. This gives me hope for the future of gadgets. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NaDPMZKXcBU

Someone is making another attempt at smart glasses. My prediction is that this will fail simply because they're kind of ugly, and nobody is going to attach something to their face all day unless it looks cool. Still, I think this one is very interesting because they claim the device's operating system will be open-source. That's a big deal in an industry that's become more and more proprietary over the years. I'm very cautiously optimistic. https://pickle.com/1

i'm pulling over 240 Mbps down at 25ms ping with a starlink mini (which is the size of a piece of paper) while partially obstructed... honestly i didn't think it was gonna be *this* good. their react native app is also really nicely done. just need to wait for the unifi travel router to be back in stock and i can throw it in a suitcase and work from anywhere

The correct future would be eSIMs downloaded onto removable eUICCs. Sadly, adoption of removable eUICCs only gives a signal to phone vendors through carriers that "eSIMs are getting more popular", ending up in reduced number of physical slots on devices. https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2025/12/i-switched-to-esim-in-2025-and-i-am-full-of-regret/
