makes me laugh when in one breath, people will cite Polymarket & megapot as top candidates for onboarding the next cohort of very onchain people (and I agree), but then in the next breath they’ll say they can’t publicly show support for @betrmint because *checks notes* it has a spinning wheel?… make it make sense

I’m exaggerating a bit, but @betrmint’s “gambling-adjacency” has been a problem for some and I think it’s kind of unfortunate. Here we have a mini app that is doing more to create novel revenue streams for onchain creators than any other project or protocol except maybe zora itself? (proof is in the pudding — $13k in creator rewards in less than 2 months) and our user is paying to collect something… the spin comes after and just determines the level of their token ebonus. It’s the mildest possible iteration of speculation, in service of something greater. Anyway, we just keep building! /rant

don’t underestimate the spinning wheel / gambling sentiment, there is a strong link between the two also understand that some users only mint to spin the wheel in hopes of winning a bigger prize, they don’t actually care about supporting the artist good outcome but not always for the right reasons

i guess this shows the importance of brand positioning. i like what you’re building but i’ve had the first impression that tied it directly to a casino through the branding it’s also somewhat ironic/funny that crypto serves a “casino” audience that is in denial because the coins are positioned more as “investing in tech projects” than gambling, but ultimately it’s the speculative element and not the tech that draws the bigger crowd (from my own experience with clankfun)

this is the reality though: gambling is a vice. many VCs/people with strong reputations don't want to be associated with a vice, no matter how adjacent it is. trust me, i've heard so many of these comments and i'm grateful for their support in private. i'm thankful for the rare few who are willing to back us publicly (will share more in due time). know why you're building what you're building, build it the right way so you can sleep with a good conscience, and in the end, it doesn't matter who supports you publicly anyways, it's the day in and out grinding it out as a builder i, for one, love betrmint, and am cheering y'all on!
