What will VCs do to counter the breaking of the social contract for people who work for equity? The entire "work at a startup, get rich" thing doesn't work out for many of the people because they get screwed in some way later on https://x.com/varunramg/status/1943797354114486547

Many such cases sadly. Remember when Buzzfeed IPOed and their lock up ended? There was a glitch and many employees didn’t get their stock and the VCs all got theirs and sold. By the time the glitch was sorted out, the stock had cratered and they were left with nothing. It was brutal.

They will spin a tale about how actually all of the employees got an exit, even if they really mean severance.

Equity hasn't been working for over 5 years now that most companies almost never IPO anymore. Its basically why I only work consulting now. The stats are very clear stock options are fugazi now.
