+1, idk how you can *not* be excited about Robinhood's crypto plans. majority of my friends have a Robinhood account for investing. majority of my friends want access to private investments. Robinhood's crypto plans can make it happen. and only avail in the EU is bearish on the US, not Robinhood?

I think the fear is that if they spin up their own chain they can turn off the buy and sell button in retrospect and roll back the chain. GME trauma

i would be as a coin, arb, hood, citadel, stripe, airbnb, citi et al shareholder. has nothing to do with defi, decentralized/open crypto tho. so as a general crypto user/ct person, there's nothing to be bullish about. all these orgs are using crypto-like rails to cut transaction costs and sometimes time. when needed, they'll figure cut the L2 from ethereum. private blockchains is the oldest walstreet dream. and its fine, they/we are here to do business, not fuck spiders (as the aussies say)

Isn’t Robinhood inherently the opposite culture fit for crypto? Robinhood is known for controlling your trades, freezing accounts or preventing them from buying/selling which is in the opposite spirit of decentralization. It feels like when Facebook tries to be TikTok.

People are assuming a very specific problem gets solved which is not so obvious it can be. The incentive is to talk about it

robinhood is pretty cool, wish we could use it in canada dunno why anyone is unhappy that companies with huge distribution are leaning into crypto, seems like a win for the industry at large
