we might already be too late for an individual canonical farcon going forward. this was the last moment it was possible people want to organize in different cities tokyo isn't going to bend to nyc and vice versa let the markets decide

whoever the first group is that 1) has clout and 2) announces a date will determine the 2025 city there’ll be others, but first clouted mover will get the majority of people

yup and they already are. there were three farcons last week, not one. it doesn’t matter if it’s called farcon or not, the idea of the community getting together is what matters. also, sure not everyone will travel to all of them, but if we stagger the dates and cities, more ppl than we think will.

So, why does it matter if there is canonical farcon? Seems like different farcons goes with the whole sufficiently decentralized system. What are the drawbacks?

@jpetrich and I talked moving forward the only way to scale a decentralized social network is to have decentralized farcons; we'll have multiple & users will have to decide which one they attend. If we OGs all go to the same one, then we do! Otherwise, it be that way.

The canonical farcon will remain the one where v and dan attend and make big announcements for. I doubt they will spend their time travelling here and there if farcon city chapters keep spreading. Those city chapters will just become smaller yet official side events.
