I do the same but am a student of behavioral psychology. Also why leaderboard casts get so much engagement despite being shit content

when i see niche asks i recast and like them so the author gets more visibility and a better chance at having the q answered 🙈

totally fair. and i know that’s what was happening but i was just bummed that in a place where this answer could be answered by so many ppl, it went unnoticed. it took me a lot of courage to ask the question and look so uninformed so emotions were emotion-ing.

I think it's a problem of content virality that affects all social platforms, as was implied in that other thread. There's a lower bar to engagement there, so people glom into it, which increases its visibility, which makes more people engage with it, which increases its visibility...

I think part of the solution could be what you do - relying on people to recast to non-organically increase visibility to try to bootstrap engagement. 

Makes me also wish channels were more developed. Feels like a dedicated subspace to the topic would be another way to increase visibility of a "niche" question.

In fairness, I don't know what you need to be well-versed in to help devs with mini apps. 

I also don't have a strong opinion about shrug emojis, but I *can* more easily come up with such an opinion on the spot than answer the first question.

Algorithms love drama, not nuance. Sad truth is, empathy rarely trends.

If they don’t care about what you’re asking or interested they won’t engage. 

In other words it doesn’t trigger them enough. That’s just how most of us are wired.
