People should take all their old Intel Macs that will no longer be supported by the upcoming versions of macOS and turn them into Linux machines rather than dump them. https://tedium.co/2025/06/09/apple-wwdc-intel-mac-support-ending/

I have an old, "Early 2009" Aluminum iMac on my desk, running Ubuntu. Best has ROI over any machine I ever owned. So nice, and (surprisingly, after 16 years!) so reliable. https://blog.vrypan.net/2022/01/06/putting-an-old-imac-to-use/

I put Linux on an old 2013 mb air and gave it to my brother and it still rocks for his uses. My 2016 mbp will get the same treatment, but arghhh, I guess I’ll have to upgrade.

I would be happy to get one of those if they are going to throw them into the trash!

I just got an M4 after being on an intel for years. The thing still runs fine and if my company hadn’t purchased me a new one, I’d keep using it until it did.

liberated my old 2014 macbook air already last year. strongly recommend, it will rejuvenate the machine and speed it up - also it's will be safer than running the depreciated MacOS.
