it's something I'm already trying to optimise for in the future, and I do have a few friends (not all) that are making this change for their family

wait till they have kids. having enough money to spend time with the family in the house and make a good living is out of this world

Very nice post, I resonate with a lot of what you wrote. 

The biggest reasons for me are autonomy, freedom, more time to work on my own revenue generating projects 

My goal is to go full time on my bootstrapped products. Until then consulting is a good way to pay the bills while not consuming my entire work week.

I work with early stage startups too which is very fun and motivating as well- and is a great way to learn how theyre doing things.

Been doing this the last couple of years and it’s great

I think it comes with age.
When I was younger, I worked both on vacation, on weekends, and outside of working hours.
Now I have changed my priorities and devote more time to myself and my family
