seeing more and more founder friends flipping a 180 and shifting towards part time (a few hrs a week) consulting to have more free time and space to explore hobbies and work on personal projects.

why did you make the change? how did it start? why is it great? genuinely interested to understand other perspectives. I wrote a bit about my own here as well: https://ntik.me/posts/on-consulting

Very nice post, I resonate with a lot of what you wrote. The biggest reasons for me are autonomy, freedom, more time to work on my own revenue generating projects My goal is to go full time on my bootstrapped products. Until then consulting is a good way to pay the bills while not consuming my entire work week. I work with early stage startups too which is very fun and motivating as well- and is a great way to learn how theyre doing things.
