@newtp please one of these days let's talk about the most invasive species on planet earth and the severe negative impact free roaming domestic cats/feral cats strain on fragile ecosystems causing mass extinctions of small mammals birds and reptiles around the world THAT NOBODY IS TALKING ABOUT

In one study, over 70% of mammals and 80% of birds attacked died even WITH treatment from puncture wounds, bacteria, and disease. So even if they get away, they still gonna die!! Also, spat/neuter programs exist for feral cats, but they’re controversial; the cats will just repopulate, so…

I also didn’t cover the differences between feral and domestic cats!! Feral cats kill more according to some studies. Also, adding bells to your cat’s collar WILL NOT HELP!! They will still kill the bird, in fact, in one study, at even HIGHER rates than without one. It doesn’t alert the birds.

Other facts I missed!! The presence of cats can make their prey more fearful, reducing their fecundity, or birth rates, and creating chronic stress and health impacts (making a vid on this: “ecology of fear”). Also, the “gifts” they bring home mean the predators can’t eat it!! :3

Pls also make a video on, how to stop cat biting.. I recently adopted 2 male kittens (now they're 6 months old) and they're driving me n*utssss. One of them bite so hard and even scratches my face for no reason. Now, I'm even scared to sleep with him.

Bells definitely help, stops them from being able to rush the bird table un-noticed. From my experience anyway.

Definitely helpful apparently dusk and morning think were the times to keep your cats inside. Actually, one study said the bells didn’t help at all and even could make it worse, which is why I mentioned!!

Things I do to mitigate this, collars and bells 🔔, not let out till after 8am and we attempt to get them in before dusk. Also helps to prevent them being hit by cars.

My cat, Fiddle, is an inside only cat. In addition to protecting birds and other small creatures, this helps Fiddle too. Cats that don’t go outside live longer.

I took an anthropology class, and if I remember correctly, it started with people learning about plants and their uses like for medicine, then it moved into horticulture where they wouldn’t plant but manage how the plants grew, finally, they realized they plant and farm them, soon crossbreeding; want me 2 make vid?
