@newtp please one of these days let's talk about the most invasive species on planet earth and the severe negative impact free roaming domestic cats/feral cats strain on fragile ecosystems causing mass extinctions of small mammals birds and reptiles around the world THAT NOBODY IS TALKING ABOUT

Other facts I missed!! The presence of cats can make their prey more fearful, reducing their fecundity, or birth rates, and creating chronic stress and health impacts (making a vid on this: “ecology of fear”). Also, the “gifts” they bring home mean the predators can’t eat it!! :3

In one study, over 70% of mammals and 80% of birds attacked died even WITH treatment from puncture wounds, bacteria, and disease. So even if they get away, they still gonna die!! Also, spat/neuter programs exist for feral cats, but they’re controversial; the cats will just repopulate, so…

I also didn’t cover the differences between feral and domestic cats!! Feral cats kill more according to some studies. Also, adding bells to your cat’s collar WILL NOT HELP!! They will still kill the bird, in fact, in one study, at even HIGHER rates than without one. It doesn’t alert the birds.
