how do y’all break out of a perpetual state of laziness and despondence, i don’t have any motivation to do anything lately apart from my regular work and it’s absolutely devastating please tell me what worked for YOU, i really don’t want any generic advice ://

in my experience, when I'm in that mode it means I need to rest and recharge. pressuring myself to get back in gear actually makes it take longer, which is infuriating. I really struggle to take breaks without feeling guilty but ultimately the break will take itself whether I accept it or not

it kinda comes in ebbs and flows for me i’ve found over time that less pressure tends to make more things happen — if u do enough of nothing u kinda get tired of it and the motivation happens — constantly thinking you should be doing something when you’re not is work in itself the part i’ve always struggled with is being consistent but i’m thinking that more and more it comes from doing something that has a value that is higher than fulfilling self

Find something you like that can become a routine that can also be done incrementally better each time you do it. - walking outside but the distance increases, or speed increases - lifting weights, but the weights get heavier each time - writing a thank you note to a person, but each day you write to more/different ppl

Sometimes I cry, like HARD cry - it seems to release something, and then I feel lighter and more excited and motivated to do things

I was lazy and despondent because the work available to me wasn’t worth putting energy into. Your body is saving energy to capitalize when a worthy opportunity comes up. So maybe start actively looking for stuff that’s more aligned with your values, goals, etc

cure to laziness is mostly biting more than you can chew, stacking more responsibilities works like a charm to get you out of your state of unproductivity

For me I take a break. If I get that way it means I'm mentally exhausted. So I take a break, see movies, hangout with friends of like mind. Hear of their exploits and that's enough motivation to get back in.
