... and why I've divested/ retreated from farcaster. the weird "yarvin, thiel, andreeson, musk" cabal that dan finds so inspiring and helpful is deeply worrying. for reasons /besides/ farcaster: palantir is what cops use to track their ex girlfriends; yarvin thinks slavery is natural and fair; thiel is actively undermining american democracy; andreeson glazes trump on the regular with technofascist glee; and musk, well... it's all bad. and dangerously close to home.

Yeah I'm right there with you. It is despicable and morally bankrupt to hold them in such high regard. His defenses have always been what-about-isms, which are logically invalid arguments. They like to avoid culpability for the social impacts of fascistic policy and business practices; might as well start giving stiff arm salutes.

musk was loud n' proud in that regard. and yes, accountability is a forgone notion when it comes to men of means. in the end, after two months of research, i couldn't reconcile the misleading promise of farcaster with the reality of its ownership and financial backers. if farcaster succeeds, it will host palantir 🎻
