Introducing GitCast.dev A feed of GitHub activity by Farcaster users you follow! Uses the new GitHub verification and with Neynar pulls an algorithmic list of people you follow that have one, then builds the feed with GitHub’s activity API. It is a bit slow due to looping over GitHub’s API so be patient!

warning: long read, personal POV i worked for years with brands, celebs, banks, investors, and foundations. i know how powerful brand marketing is in building trust and community. and as someone whose family, friends, and daily life don’t touch crypto (despite my best effort), i’m painfully aware of how bad crypto’s brand is. if you’re thinking “only XYZ is cringe,” hate to break it to you: to most people, there’s no difference between ethereum, solana or base. to them, it’s all just crypto. no amount of “man on the street” tiktoks, memecoins, or cypherpunk storytelling is going to fix that. i’ve been in crypto since 2018, and the most consistent thing i’ve seen convert skeptics into believers is simple: trusted humans. people change their minds when someone they trust shows them something they care about. maybe i’m wrong, but i still think the best way forward is what’s worked for every other network: good humans onboarding other good humans. it’s slow until it’s not.

finally had a bit of time to decompress after eth denver some general thoughts: -main event is the personification of Twitter, “celebrities” everywhere, hoardes of npc’s trying to get their attention -3 years in, there still isn’t a smooth claim for tickets but can’t complain to much cause it’s free w a couple of clicks -farcaster vibes are immaculate, however it is very clicky and monoculture is a thing - noticed the contrast from an eth Bushwick event at Denver that was also p cool -there aren’t enough tastemakers in the space, everyone just goes to the 1 cool after party -everyone who got some merch felt special, random folks would tell me bits of “lore” - like they knew exactly how much supply of merch we had and how rare certain pieces were -got plastered w some homies, s/o to @derek for adding a stop on the Uber at 3 am after I put in the wrong location -got to meet @dish and @lobstermindset.eth; total sweethearts and reaffirmed that I am in the right place

Had dinner last night with some crypto VCs and operators who are savvy users of new and emergent crypto products Most of them had been on Farcaster before but it was 6+ months ago but didn’t stay active for a variety of reason Told them it’s a whole new world now and told them about frames, wallet and projects like @clanker @bankr and @bracky They all said they’re gonna give it another try and they need to pay more attention to it Everyone who’s here today is still very early Feeling extra optimistic that Farcaster is just now hitting its stride
