It doesn’t matter what we think, it matters what the white supremacists think. If they feel emboldened by it, then that’s the effect it has. If not, then not.(I haven’t cared enough to check in and find out)

Obviously, people will find fault with everything because social media rewards conflict, but as a communicator, if a huge portion of your audience has received an unintentional message from you then it's on you to clarify. In a moment where ICE kidnaps brown US citizens, it does seem like American Eagle is clearly picking a side (if a blue-eyed blonde has good genes, who has bad genes?) and I think that's what the backlash is really about. I think they'll suffer in the same way Target has, but I guess we'll see.
