The produce at normal (fka middle class) grocery stores goes bad much faster now Bought a box of organic strawberries yesterday, and a few were already covered with mold this morning Rarely happens with produce from upper class stores (eg. Whole Foods). Yet another way the growing class disparity is felt (but hidden)

It's not a conspiracy theory. I've been noticing the same thing. I try to get more produce from the farmers' markets due to this drop in quality. Have you seen the tricks stores use to make it look like food is fresh? Terrifying...

No, can you say more on the latter?

Grocery stores employ several methods to make food appear fresher, including using specific lighting, spraying produce with water (which actually leads to faster decay), arranging items strategically, and utilizing temperature control. These techniques can subtly influence shoppers' perceptions of quality and freshness. Another method used for meat to look more inviting is carbon monoxide to turn it from gray to vibrant red again. Tbh, it looks like a lot of this info is being suppressed on the web. You could find many examples 3 years ago... Having a hard time digging up content on this that is newer.
