. @jacob has convinced me that coins are a huge unlock for creativity 2y ago, we had stigma around open editions, but we worked through that and it was better for creators now we do coins: let's build smart coins that deliver positive sum value for creators and consumers and make the internet *more* creative

We need more tokens, not less. 3-4 years ago, Bobby Kim @ The Hundreds onboaded me to the same thesis.

I'm imagining books where every page is a minting post. users can buy one page at a time to get access to the "post" and quit buying at any time should they not enjoy the book. strikes a great balance between author and reader, and would be an amazing signal to authors as to where they lose a reader in order to improve their writing and/or editing. Further an author can choose their own adventure. Mint a book with a very high supply, thus essentially guaranteeing new readers simply mint a new token from the supply - the equivalent of not allowing resales. OR, they could create an artificially low supply, risk bot hoarding and scalping, but also generate scarcity and demand while allowing users to trade coins to grant access to reading a page/chapter/whatever and earning a % of trades for life. Obviously there are still a few technical hurdles in the way for encrypting the book in order to gatekeep while keeping the user experience easier to buy token than to pirate the book...but well on our way!!

Iโ€™m a bit confused by it tbh. Perhaps you can elaborate? In my experience, there is a boom for the first few weeks of a new meta like this, but then it plateaus to much lower earnings for artists. In theory, the abundance model makes sense, but in practice, very few actually benefit in any significant manner ๐Ÿค”

Thereโ€™s always the other side of this - the quality of the art produced is going to drop if people create something just for the sake of making a coin ๐Ÿช™ I guess

How, though? I don't get it. I'm willing to be convinced, but I honestly don't understand the benefit.
