After digging into a bit, seems like there are two decent options for gifting crypto in small amounts to children that aren't yours:
1. ETFs in custodial / UTMA accounts (no ETH yet!)
2. Onchain custody route (multisig w/ parents)

Details and reasoning below, what am I missing?

would love to see someone build a simple "gift ETH to your friend's kid" tool on @base

This needs to abstract away the block chain to be actually usable.

No not necessarily. You set a timer( like 1 year) and then you need to reset the timer yearly, if you don't, then the contract ownership is automatically transferred to a pre-set address. Not to mention that you can deposit tokens/nfts etc in and set beneficiaries

wdym by death trust? As in the smart contract only transfers upon the death of the original holder? If so, there are so many logistical issues that makes this logistically impracticable to have any meaningful value/utility.

I have legitimately already solved this problem with a smart contract. We should have a conversation I think you'd be surprised at what I have. Its basically a death trust with allowances.
