i mostly only do 2 kinds of phone calls 1. calls with 10-15 friends & family 2. podcast recordings both tend to be about an hour or more on average i am posting this publicly so that i can reference it and feel less bad politely declining requests for one-off calls with people i've never talked to before, it is not personal at all, it is just a default no for me personally i find my podcast recordings to be real quality conversations in which i can really get to know someone and they can get to know me and it's a high leverage use of time because i share them publicly then of course i have a small number of people i like talking to regularly and want to keep in touch with other than that unless it's for something specific where a call is obviously useful, i just default to no i'm not saying this is right, it's just how i have operated for years if i were to change this, i could see myself experimenting with doing a large number of very short calls like 5-10 minutes each, i've been intrigued by that for a long time, but idk, yet to actually do it
