I wouldn't underestimate the power of Meta getting their billions of Instagram and Facebook users to use Threads.
Likely usage pattern and levels of engagement won't be like X but can't underestimate them. 
Especially now that Elon sided with Trump and there is a lot of people around the world that don't want any association with Trump and conservatives.

Even threads can't directly compete with X.

Threads is sneakily getting people that never used Twitter but use Instagram get into microblogging.

Everyone else is just competing against Twitter.
Bluesky has the advantage that it's seen the anti-Twitter so Elon haters go there.

While meta,and tiktok etc employ predatory measures to cater relative content to users.

Farcaster doesn’t have a post click conversion problem. They don’t really have any problem. 

You don’t scale a social network and the effects of that in months, it simply takes 3-5 years for  it to percolate. During that time if you listen to your users and ship meaningful features and if the people using your network generate interesting content then it will possibly work. 

The conundrum Warpcast faces is the fact you have to pay to signup. That’s a hard battle. But the alternative are shitty users that bounce after you front the onboarding cost. 

Time and determination and focus is all FC needs.

2. your incentives are bad 
3. your original targeting was bad
