My neighbor is an astrophysicist who works with James Webb Telescope data. He is frustrated because he has to apply annually for telescope time and what he gets is very limited, and the JWST has broken and now out-of-date instruments 

He believes 
1. billionaires and especially Elon Musk should care about the origin of the universe and observing far space
2. A telescope is a perfect project for a billionaire because it allows them to cater to their megalomania and name it after themselves "It's fine he can name it DOGE I don't care"
