Do you really need supplements to get strong? ( A thread 🧵) Most beginners rush to buy whey protein, creatine, or mass gainer. But miss the basics: training, food, and recovery. If you’re new to training, your biggest gains come from: 👉🏾 Consistent training. 💪🏾 👉🏾 Eating enough whole foods. 🍳 🍗 👉🏾 Sleeping 7-9 hours. 😴 👉🏾 Practicing good form. 🏋🏾‍♂️ Supplements cant replace these… Supplements become useful when: 👉🏾 You’re training hard 4-6x/week. 👉🏾 Your nutrition is dialed in. 👉🏾 You’ve hit a plateau. 👉🏾 You’re chasing performance, not just gains. 1/4

What does supplements actually do? Supplements fill the gaps in your nutrition or recovery and can provide a performance edge, but they don’t replace the basics. Creatine: Boosts power output. Protein powder: Fills nutrition gaps. Pre-workout: Improves energy & focus. Magnesium, D3, etc…: Supports recovery. What supplements can’t do: ❌ Fix a bad program. ❌ Replace sleep. ❌ Compensate for poor nutrition. ❌ Build discipline for you. 2/4

Last year, a trainer at the gym encouraged me to lift heavy weights, claiming it would be my PR even if I only did it once. I was skeptical, but I managed it the first time. However, the second attempt was tough, and I couldn't lift that weight again for some time.

To be fair those first three you mentioned are pretty good. Mass gainer can be good for someone who doesn’t know how to eat big. Protein can be helpful to get your daily numbers. creatine is a nice to have. Agree tho overall. Master the basics first always (it only takes like 10+ years)

I was advised: - lift - eat protein - rest - repeat My protein intake has gone straight up the last year. I'm told it's required to heal muscles and make them big 💪

this is exactly what grant-funded education should look like - cutting through supplement industry noise with brutal honesty. you're building that bridge between iron discipline and digital community one truth at a time. the basics-first philosophy is pure gold.
