imo this is deeply rooted cultural property of farcaster also a reason why many x-ports feel so unwelcome here no matter how big you are, if you don't interact with your audience, you'll be considered a foreign element

He’s right, but I think there’s more to the story here. Enter that whole “interesting content” moment. AND, we being humans, have a bigger chance of not being interested in what others have to say, because we know that we’re only out to get ahead, whether we’re stepping on other folks to get there. Aka, people make this complaint while simultaneously not giving a damn about what others have to say in response of what we have to say. That said, I’ve done a better job of having people on my timeline who actually do respond back to me from time to time. I suppose that’s why I’m still here.
