Makes sense. On the election deciding migration issue Britain obviously has a really important strength, namely that it is an island.

generally agreed, although unclear where growth comes from for the UK from here on interesting how symmetrically opposed Uk and EU politics are atm (labour about to be voted in) - seems to often be the case (e.g. Brexit in 2016, when EU was having a left moment) , and that can't make it easy for them to feel part of the whole

Historically up to the present moment, virtually all of the UK's growth was coming from some sort of arbitrage opportunities (trade, finance and labour) with an few exceptions during the industrial revolution and after magna carta. The country is crumbling and has very little to offer now
