Today's most interesting pickup.... I've been cooking with algae oil for the past 5 months, so I figured it might be time to try something different. This does have a bunch of other stuff in it besides just bacon grease, but I'm willing to give it a shot. I have cooked with lard in the past as my primary cooking fat, so this might just be an unnecessary extra in comparison. Have you tried this? What type of oil/fat do you cook with normally?

I use mostly olive oil for cooking, occasionally ghee or coconut oil for more flavor. In the rarer times I cook bacon at home, I save the grease. Was taught that by Texan moms growing up. Sometimes we also get lucky and get gifted duck fat by a friend whose family raises them. Never tried algae oil though. What does it taste like?

Oh I have too many jars of reserved bacon fat. I usually go with olive oil and avocado oil for high heat. Bacon fat for special occasions ๐ซก

random but here's my bacon grease (i don't use it for anything so i didn't filter it out ) if you like yours i might do it right next time so i can try it too. i usually only cook with bacon grease if it's left over from frying bacon and i need to make some eggs
