Ponder predictions feel like they miss the mark a bit It rewards you for predicting what you think other people will think other people will think. I have stopped doing them because it disincentivises voicing your opinion I would love a polling product that lets you vote and bet on the result separately

Appreciate the feedback! We’ve thought about this quite a bit. To some degree, the thesis is that we come to a more accurate understanding of the world’s opinion because the outcome is informed by us calculating on behalf of others rather than ourselves. Perhaps you get a read that the world is moving towards authoritarianism, as an example, and this gives you a chance to express that prediction - regardless of whether or not it’s your own belief. We’ve talked about adding a personal vote in addition to the predictive vote, but this also adds complication for a user. Two steps is harder than one, and then you have to display two results as well. You then need to add more UI elements to tell people what they’re doing on each step, and there will be dropoff and confusion there. And after each Ponder, will people start to feel fatigued by switching their mental models back and forth?

Btw, this still might be a good change - these are just some of the motivating reasons we haven’t

I got fatigue with constant motif of new ponders. Fwiw. I like the product a lot. Think it’s close. (could just be me as well) . But something feels off. And I have no clue what. Like a rock in a shoe. If that makes sense. Would prefer unfiltered personal truths. 🤷♂️

Having both personal vote and predictive one would definitely make it much more interesting. It also solves the problem of the confusion between the two, and probably reduces the icky factor (as in: there are polls you don’t want to touch even if you know you’re just predicting).
