Meta is spending a lot of money on individual contributors, but from my experience with the tech today.. they’ve basically are behind by months and heading to a year?

They are losing on every front. None of their models are top 30 on LMArena text.

And they want to throw more compute at the problem?

Not getting it.

Yeah, I think it’s also the fundamental nature of why turnarounds are generally so dramatic and why they are celebrated more than regular achievements

i think it is Meta poses the biggest threat, probably whatsapp or instagram AI chatbots with their social graph and personal-interests data.

What AI features are yet to be implemented? Besides maybe some augmented reality integrations. I don’t see any demand.

still, sam altman considers them the biggest competitor because meta can embed their good enough AI features in existing social products like Instagram and WhatsApp

Openai was already bleeding talent and they took a bunch of their top people.

So it’s not only catching up but slowing openai down and sabotaging morale.
