Dumb AF IMO to buy indoor lettuce grown in a state known for its outdoor lettuce cultivation ๐Ÿ˜… these need to be located in cities, not where nature does a good job of it on its own.

Due to a changing climate even the massive outdoor lettuce industry there is in danger, you have main water sources like the Colorado river facing droughts. Indoor vertical farming is trying to address these threats through technology. Iโ€™m hopeful for a future where existing and new tech farming systems can work together

___ % less Ca ___ % more nitrates Perhaps @mooneymillions can chime in re how systems have improved over the years to avoid excessive nitrates and lower Ca levels that imo plagued early hydro production. The less water use is * vs depends on where itโ€™s produced. Think for many places glass house is superior to indoor on big scale. See https://www.littleleaffarms.com as an example of a potentially successful operation

A few of our lessons learned over 8 years: Fewer parts = fewer problems. No matter how good the growing equipment is, environment comes first. Proactive > reactive. Thatโ€™s led us to having extra filters near our weaker areas on tbe equipmemt, recycling all of the water and nutrients in system, and having our dosing system running 24/7 with sharper parameters (it currently has our A, B and CaliMag hooked up). Now whenever something goes wrong, 99% itโ€™s human error ๐Ÿ˜…
