reviews have to be the least coherent part of any ux at this point 1. you can’t verify authenticity no one really knows how legit the contents and motives of reviews are anymore i’m bullish on world for this reason: you can of course verify they’re written by humans. you could also theoretically have better visibility into the flow of capital to and from accounts (wallets), which could be used to check authenticity claims from influencers 2. you don’t see range everything’s roughly a 4.5 now. if everything’s great, nothing is. effectively nullifies the value of reviews as a consumer navigation tool we need to have higher standards and call out when something is subpar or average

there’s little to no incentive to call out something that’s bad/average/mid Most people won’t call it out publicly and they won’t recommend to friends but that’s usually about it verifying authenticity has always been a hard problem

I built it a while ago with @matallo.eth but there was no meaningful change The reviews on the front page were hard coded to link to reviews on Farcaster, so essentially tied to someone’s social identity, and if someone really wanted to snoop they could even find the transaction with the amount of the candle. Problem is that no one cares about the authenticity. The default is that there is always some doubt that most reviews are real, but people don’t care to verify. https://humankind.place

does World really solve it though? i see this claim mentioned all the time, but never examined. what’s stopping me from paying World users to do some inauth actions? i’d argue World might even facilitate this by creating an authenticated user index ;)

Do you think reddit solved for this with the upvote and downvote mechanism. Community then begin to curate what they believe is authentic
