to any buddhist, tibetans, and good humans alike, today is the 90th birthday of his holiness the dalai lama! 💛🙏 i celebrated (or rlly, am still celebrating right after i leave my hidden corner with one bar of wifi & no kids tugging at my dress) at ithaca’s tibetan namgyal monastery AKA THEEE american seat / temple of the dalai lama. this year is a special one more than ever, since increasing threats have been made regarding the reincarnation of the next dalai lama. china’s been trying to dictate the process with more and more propaganda, and it’s been rlly hopeless at times, but days like this— watching the community fling their chupas (tibetan clothing) in the air as they gorshey (traditional tibetan dance) and run around telling the kids (and me LOL) to go eat… idk there’s smth special in the air that makes me think our pocket of the world is still worthy of being known. so happy 90th to his holiness, to all that he’s done for our people, for humanity & 40 more years with him 🫂🌎
