This more in-depth video from WWDC Developer Sessions about the nuances of Liquid Design language have changed my perspective on it. There are a ton of thoughtful interactions intended in this system like automatic opacity switching when over text, increased shadow when over other elements etc.

This shows though, as much of what you’ll see in the video does not resemble what they showed on the keynote, that what they had ready for demo was very far off from what it was supposed to look like. 

I hope they can deliver the necessary tweaks by September.

Wow. How can people not love this new design?

Nonsense. It’s not implemented well now. I wrote several posts about exactly where they’ve missed the mark in the keynote and in the beta. In the post you commented on I pointed out already that they disregard their own guidance. And there are countless designers and users who have pointed out both the inconsistencies in the implementation and the awkwardness of the user experience. And given the last design change they rolled out they botched miserably, it’s not strange to compare them.

That’s called a prejudice… the interface is gorgeous. You cannot say you hate it because you think it will be implemented badly like in the remote past

Poor execution so far has sowed fear into people who remember the awful rollout of iOS7 that bricked phones and took a full year to fix. 

Also for people with disabilities, this kind of heavy handed, animation and transparency heavy design can cause a lot of issues.

Still I think long term they will arrive at something most people will come to like. Only time will tell
