How to improve your leaderboard ranking 1. Choose a niche to a top 1% caster on Farcaster today and try to have one extra thoughtful cast a day (like a mini blog post) 2. More generally, cast *a lot* (many times a day); doesn't need to be about the above niche 3. Use catchy, brief titles, see @balajis 4. Make your casts text-heavy 5. Write text in short paragraphs (2-3 lines max); avoid wall of text 6. Include one embed only (link/image/video) 7. Engage: Reply to comments 8. Direct message followers your most important posts 9. Create niche-focused group chats and post links to your casts to help kickstart engagement

8&9 are engagement farming. Engage with my cast even if you don’t care a shit about it — I am not a fan of sending DM to followers.

That's part of the game. And it's not engagement farming if you've built a relationship with the person.

It’s engagement farming even if you’ve built a relationship with the person. If you did it, your friend should be close to you here and see your casts, no need to spam on DM, imo. Obviously there will be people who do it, but I want to deserve the reward I get without forcing anyone to interact with my content.

people do have group chats where they practice sharing casts with each other for the purpose of trying to corner engagement, that's not what is being suggested here lol

And majority of people at the top of the leaderboard refrain from doing this too, but it doesn’t mean that’ll be the case in the future. It’s a known tactic that works on X/Twitter and can be a helpful one to someone who doesn’t have as extensive a social presence here on this social graph

I think it depends on the relationship you have with the person. People I engage with on here all the time cast things I don’t see bc algorithmic feeds. If they have an important message/art they want a boost on, I’m happy to do it if they dm me. Different if they’re trying to sell something all the time, or it’s politically motivated, etc
