This got me thinking about company perks. What’s the best perk or benefit a company you worked for offered? For me, I worked at Cornerstone and they offered everyone a 7 week sabbatical after 7 years of employment. There’s so much you can do in 7 weeks that you can’t do in a typical 1-2 week vacation. It’s short enough that you don’t forget anything and can rejoin without skipping a beat. It’s long enough that the company has to learn to survive without you. Our CEO was famous for saying no one is irreplaceable including him. It sounds bleak was actually positive and motivating. And it forces a stress test on the company’s systems and processes to make sure no single person is a single point of failure.

The best perk I ever experienced was being able to work remotely :) It completely changed my life to be able to work a corporate job and road trip across the US and even live in Alaska ⛰️ It meant the world to me that my manager trusted me enough to let me travel so much while working full time :)

my dad's union negotiated a 13 week vacation after around 15-20 years that was supposed to rotate every 5 years. unfortunately, after the first time he gained it, they canceled this benefit, but he was home pretty much the entire summer that year.

7 week is great... But 7 years to get that. A little too long to count as the best perk for me.
