I'm grateful Coinbase gave employees a 7 year window to exercise their stock options after leaving. When I left I didn't have the capital to exercise my options (all of it went to starting my business). I would've had to take a loan out so this derisked a lot for me. More companies should do this

This got me thinking about company perks. What’s the best perk or benefit a company you worked for offered?

For me, I worked at Cornerstone and they offered everyone a 7 week sabbatical after 7 years of employment. 

There’s so much you can do in 7 weeks that you can’t do in a typical 1-2 week vacation.

It’s short enough that you don’t forget anything and can rejoin without skipping a beat.

It’s long enough that the company has to learn to survive without you. Our CEO was famous for saying no one is irreplaceable including him. It sounds bleak was actually positive and motivating. And it forces a stress test on the company’s systems and processes to make sure no single person is a single point of failure.

if i had stayed 1 year longer at AIG i would have had a pension (at 3 year mark). i was blown away as a 20 year old i could have a pension lol

i interned at aig 2 summers and then worked there full time after college so was there ages 19-22

You started working at 18?

I worked at Aon (also insurance) in my 20s and also got a pension.
I took a lump sum about 5 years after I left when it was offered to me and invested it in the stock market
