Reporting from the front lines of American parenting, I am starting to pick up on a trend of tweenage and early-teen boys getting their hair permed in secret. I’m not here to judge, only to observe. Anyone else seeing this?

I have a brother 6 years older than me. When he was in grade 11 (1980) he got a perm. And an earring. My dad nearly had an anneurism. 😅 But maybe there is something broader to it at that age? Or he was just way ahead of his time, and that wouldn't surprise me either.

Yep.  Also, mullets are very much a thing amongst youngsters today.  As are socks and sliders. It's disconcerting.
