product designers are the architects of software. architects create blueprints, instructions for others to hit hammer to nail. what if architects could create blueprints for cranes, instead? in other words, why are you, a product designer, using figma instead of vibe coding?

Because mostly design is about rapid iteration. which is done via blueprints and prototyping, not full fledged production. better to let a skilled builder/engineer take care of implementation so you can focus on gauging user needs and translating them in product design.

practical answer: 1. time – i hire people to code vol for me bc i don’t have time to both code and design. 2. trust – in larger orgs, vibe coding won’t be approved for production. optimistic answer: we’re just not there yet with ai tools. in a few years i hope we can reduce the gap between idea to artefact on prod so much that what you described will be the norm to building.

because any sufficiently complex solution still needs a human engineer in the loop, and those designers are working on such solutions with those engineers rather than with just LLMs. same reason I often work with a designer and not just loveable or equivalent. I broadly don't think narratives like "X specialist really has the most power now with AI" are that good, because you can feasibly replace X with anyone: exec, PM, UI/UX, designer, dev, etc and get the same take.

I’m not ser, i’m busy building and architecting a wave-form capable of digesting the entire world. An agentic qubit of quantum processing to maximize user-delight greasing the dopamine slide for max money flow. Vibe-coding is for weenies. I’m murdering all ugly aesthetics with the power of figma + lubricated vibe tools.

Vibe coding is a great tool in the hands of a product designer, you bring to live the static idea you would have designed on figma for stakeholders to feel, polish and ship to production
