(1/x) Interesting thought experiment. My take on it would be: Think we need to differentiate crypto into (my read of it): - CR1-Crypto: started as cypher-punk-allure which turned into mostly financial betting on new currencies for the sake of increasing own fiat bags. This is where blackrock now sits

(2/x) - CR2-Web3: The social fabric that built around the cypher-punk allure and productized zT and DLT into beyond-currencie use cases and sub-cultures. This is where DAOs sit

(3/x) - CR3-DLT: the technically-focused stream utlizing zero-trust tech for incorruptable governance and immutable records. This is where financial nihilist old school engineers sit that always say: "I told you 10 years ago about this!"

(4/x) and differentiate Climate into: - CL1-Opportunists: Entities riding on the sense of urgency, charging "green premiums", but proliferate the "power of markets"-fallacy, repeating BAU in the climate space, aka "industry sector"

(5/x) - CL2-Altruists: Entities and individuals regenerating earth without proliferating market atrocities, reyling on philanthropic funding and government subsidies, forgoing "green premiums" willingly. This is where philantropic funds and government actions sit. This is what CL1 wants to look like

(6/x) All of this is over-emphasized to make shapes clearer. Of course there is middle grounds and flux between these categories. And quantum entities, that sit in several of these categories at the same time.

(7/x) now in my experience, having built in that space and having talked a lot to all of these categories, CR1 x CL1 match quickly and are oftentimes the same entities already, e.g. banks and VCs. CL2 wants to stay away from CR1 as much as possible and is very doubtful of CR2 due to its reckless and silly behavior

(8/x) CR2 falls pray quickly to CL1, promising "feel good" and pro-public good outcomes to a culture keen on participation, access and more rights, that also looks to justify profit-seeking behavior CR3 x CL2 also match very well and are already joining forces, establishing registries and participation schemes

(9/9) tl;dr: Altruistic climate warriors come for the tech and are put off by degen, ticker and shitwifhat, climate altruists come for the financial opportunity, crypto seeks for a massive "finally a good application of my peoples' tech" situation
